Half our calls turned into conversations about passwords, updates, and things that simply stopped working. Talking to others about our frustrations only revealed that we weren’t alone.
Modern communication devices aren’t built for people who struggle with them; they’re built for the already fluent and connected. Previous generations of simplified “senior” devices stripped away essential tools, leaving people unable to book a ride, check medical records, or send a message without calling for help.
Technology that only serves those who kept up isn’t neutral; it is exclusion by default. Reaching your bank, your doctor, and your family isn’t a premium feature. It is a fundamental freedom, and quietly losing it late in life is not something anyone agreed to.
